Films & Schedules - THE 35TH YOUNG PEOPLE’S FILM FESTIVAL

THE 35TH YOUNG PEOPLE’S FILM FESTIVAL

at 1 PM (Whitsell Auditorium)

THE 35TH YOUNG PEOPLE’S FILM FESTIVAL

YOUTH

For 35 years, the Northwest Film Center’s annual Young People’s Film Festival has celebrated the next generation of regional filmmakers—children and teens in grades K-12 from throughout the Northwest—by showcasing their work and circulating it around the region. Celebrating originality, freshness, authenticity, and conviction in the voices of young mediamakers, the Festival is divided into two sections: a Kids’ Division of works created by youth in grades K-8 and the focus of today’s program, a Teen Division of works by youth in grades 9-12. Created as independent projects, classroom assignments, and/or personal narratives, often with community partners, these documentary, animated, and dramatic films were selected for recognition from more than 300 entries. Many of the teen winners will be in attendance.

Generous thanks to this year’s jury panel, filmmakers/educators Colin O’Neal, Amy Collen, and James Winters, who will be present at the screening and will interact with the winners and other interested audience members at a reception and panel discussion following the program.
