TELL THEM ANYTHING YOU WANT: A PORTRAIT OF MAURICE SENDAK

DIRECTOR: LANCE BANGS - OREGON (PORTLAND)

(DOC) Over the last 50 years, 80-year-old Maurice Sendak has written and/or illustrated over 50 books, including his most famous work, “Where The Wild Things Are,” winner of the Caldecott Medal in 1964. Made with Spike Jonze in conjunction with his film adaptation of WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE, this affectionate and intimate portrait also reveals the author’s macabre side. As the camera first captures Sendak, he is an excited, frenetic ball of energy, but when asked if he has any advice for young people, Sendak says, “Quit this life as soon as possible. Get out, get out.”
